I decided to check out the recently held Metro Comic Con 2011 at the Megatrade Hall in SM Megamall last weekend. I didn’t really know what to expect at the convention as this was only my second time attending such an event.
FYI: My first time at a convention was when I chanced upon ToyCon 2010. I was in the middle of running my errands, so I just took a quick peek and left.
Day 1: The main convention hall was filled with con-goers and participants for the group cosplay competition. There were also booths for local comic book artists and of course kiosks selling collectibles, comics and all sorts of geeky merchandise.
There were a lot of cosplayers and photo enthusiasts inside and especially outside the con area. Impromptu photoshoots were taking place left and right at the hallways. Some of the photographers even brought their equipment and had them set up at various spots of the mall.
I saw DJ Angel of the BrewRATS doing a few interviews, so I followed her around for a bit and took a few snaps.
Up on display were some of Jay Tablante's work from his Les Femmes Fetales exhibit. |

Here are a few more photos that I managed to take from the 1st day of MCC2011. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see the group cosplay competition, so these are mostly photos of the attendees in cosplay.
Zafina cosplay from Tekken 6 |
Harry Potter and Luna Lovegood |
DC Comics cosplay (from left to right: Miss Martian, The Joker, Harley Quinn and Zatanna) |
Sucker Punch group cosplay: Baby Doll, Blondie, Amber and the Bunny Mech |
One of my favorite cosplayers from that day. Tomb Raider's Lara Croft, game version. I wonder if my PS1 still works. Hmmm... |
An interesting crossplay of Luigi from the Super Mario Bros. franchise. |
HADOUKEN!!! I wish I had taken a better photo of these guys, Ryu's a bit blurred here. O well. |
